Inter-Regional Championships
A national initiative in which each region pits its best 10 tristars and best 4 youths against the other regions for the honour of the region being called the Inter Regional Champions. The Eastern Region specify a number of races that constitute the qualification events for places in this prestigious event.
The date and venue for this year's event has yet to be confirmed. Selection for the event will be based on race performances according to the criteria shown below. Those who are selected will be expected to participate in at least two of three training events (dates to be confirmed once the IRC date is announced)
In 2011 we managed a very creditable 4th place, just 12 points away from a win. Full Results
2012 Qualifying races
Due to a clash of dates for the proposed Youth qualification events we can't currently confirm which races they will be.
For Tristars there will be three races, East Essex Kids tri (2 June), New Hall Junior Triathlon (17 June) and the Rob Mclean Junior Triathlon (1 July)

Qualification Criteria - Tristar 2 and Tristar 3 (two places, male and female in each category)
There will be three qualifying races of which the best two performances will count. The triathlete (male and female) with the highest two event score will be given an automatic place. A second place will be decided by committee based primarily on performances at those same events.

Qualification Criteria- Youth
Qualification Criteria - Youth (three places, male and female)
There will be two qualifying events for places. The winning girl and boy in each race will be guaranteed an IRC place providing they are within 10% of the overall winning time. If the same triathlete wins both events then the second place person in the second qualifying event will qualify (providing they are within 10% of the overall winning time). If the second place person does not qualify then the second place person at the first qualifying event will qualify (if within the 10% limit). Other places will be decided by the Eastern Region committee based on performances at these events. If there is no third candidate from these events then the Eastern Region committee will select a third candidate.

- Beth wins at Race 1and her time is within 10% of the winning time so she qualifies
- Beth wins at Race 2 so place goes to second. However, Edith is not within 10% of the winning time so does not qualify.
