The Officiating Pathway consists of five levels and links to British Triathlon and the ITU. The pathway enables officials to increase the level of event they are eligible to officiate at, both as the chief official or as an assistant official.
Training race officials to be confident in their role and display consistency across the country is essential to support the development of triathlon.
The Triathlon England Race Officials Education Programme aims to develop a team of highly competent race officials across the country to support the ever increasing number of events being held. The programme provides a clear and equitable pathway for progression, with courses being organised across the country designed to develop high quality officials and encouraging the education of athletes over penalising them, especially at novice events.
The Triathlon England and British Triathlon training courses fully align with the ITU's courses and have been accredited by the ITU. In total there are five officiating levels as outlined below:
As the officiating programme has been accredited by the ITU this enables a clear progression on to their pathway and provides officials with the opportunity to progress from domestic to international officiating by being part of the officiating team at ITU and ETU events.
