Creating Triathlon opportunities for everyone across London

Junior Series

This series is open to all juniors who are a member of a London club or reside in a London Borough.

2016 Series

The Series scoring remains unaltered from 2015 as 2 best triathlon scores, best aquathlon score & best duathlon score. The same points bias towards triathlons is also in 2015, so the maximum score is 3,000points (through winning 2 triathlons, 1 duathlon and 1 aquathlon) - see below for Series rules and how points are calculated.

See the link on the right (Previous Series Results) to access the complete set of scores for all the London Junior Series since 2007.

  • Other Events

The number of events in the Series needs to be limited to ensure that the leading competitors meet each other sufficiently frequently to determine the rankings, and so unfortunately not every event can be included. The non-Series events are however excellent events providing equally good racing experience as those in the Series, and we encourage all to participate in these too.

Listed below are the events that I've heard of to date - please contact me if you have an event that you wish to add.

In addition events can be can be found on the British Triathlon Events Calendar

Junior Series Rules

Series Eligibility

The Series is open to anyone who is a member of a London club or resides in London.

It is not neccessary to be a member of a triathlon club or Triathlon England to participate in the Series.

There is no requirement to register to be included in the Series - I will compile based on the results of the races.

Points Scoring

London Region Series Races are grouped into triathlons, duathlons and aquathlons. Scores are calculated in usual way (i.e. relative to the first London finisher), but Triathlons given greater weighting:

  • Triathlons: based on a maximum of 1,000points (as used to previously)
  • Duathlons / Aquathlons: based on maximum of 500points

The score for each individual in the series are is based on the cumulative points from:

-  the best 2 triathlon scores

+ the best 1 duathlon score

+ the best 1 aquathlon score

So the maximum series points available for an individual is 3,000 (1,000 + 1,000 + 500 + 500).

All athletes are awarded points based on a percentage of the 1st London athlete time for their category, and the number of points available for the type of event. Triathlons are based on 1,000 points for the leading London athlete, and aquahlons/duathlons on 500points.

e.g. First London athlete in a triathlon finishes is 20 minutes and gets 1000 points. Second London athlete is 22 minutes gets 909 points. (20/22 x 1000 = 909) and so on. This is different to previous years as we are only counting London athlete results.

IRC Selection

Selection of the London Inter-Regional Championships team (T2 & T3 categories) is yet to be decided - decision is expected to be taken and published in December 2015 (or sooner).

For more details on the IRC event see here.

Non-Series Events

The number of events in the Series needs to be limited to ensure that the leading competitors meet each other sufficiently frequently to determine the rankings, and so unfortunately not every event can be included. The non-Series events are however excellent events providing equally good racing experience as those in the Series, and we encourage all to participate in these too.
