The annual bidding process gives event organisers of triathlons, duathlons and aquathlons across England, Scotland and Wales the opportunity to host British and National Championships as well as World or European Championship qualification events. Next year is already shaping up to be an exciting time for the sport, with London confirmed as the host city for the 2013 ITU World Triathlon Series Grand Final, and will also see the introduction of a full Triathlon England – National Championships major events programme.
Following a comprehensive competition review conducted by British Triathlon, the number of British Championships will be reduced to five core disciplines:

The Home Nation Associations will support aquathlon and the ever-growing discipline of cross triathlon.
Ian Braid, British Triathlon Board Director Major and National Events commented: “We are only days away from the London 2012 Olympic Games and hopefully success in Hyde Park. With the profile that triathlon will get through Team GB it is important that we have a comprehensive calendar of events in place across Great Britain in 2013 to support the demand for participation in our sport and to enable everyone to meet their triathlon challenge.”
Triathlon England has for the last few years been introducing its own National Championship programme, and is pleased to confirm that in 2013 there will be a full programme of National Championships, which event organisers in England can bid to host. Bids are invited from event organisers, which permit with the Home Nation Associations: Triathlon England, Welsh Triathlon or triathlonscotland. Organisers and their events must have successfully run for a minimum of one year, and be in good standing with the relevant Home Nation Association and British Triathlon.
Bids must be submitted by 5pm, 9 August 2012. The major events calendar for both British Triathlon and Triathlon England will be published in September 2012.
