CPD Plans and Developments

Published:

The Coach Development Team is growing and the next stages of the BTF’s coaching strategy are well underway. The team’s newest recruit Louis Richards talks about what is coming up for coaches on the CPD front.

I was appointed BTF Coaching Program Manager back in April. Since then I have been working on developing a continual professional development (CPD) programme that will support coaches from levels 1 through to 3 and beyond. Whether you are coaching once a week in a club or spend every waking hour involved in coaching I have been tasked in developing a support and development network for you.

As you can imagine trying to develop a CPD programme that meets the needs of over 3000 coaches provides a unique challenge, but it’s not an impossible task. One of the first things I want to do is improve how we communicate with coaches, so you are at the heart of the CPD programme we develop.

Upcoming Developments

Over the summer months I will be working on a number of projects related to coaching CPD. These include updating the online resources we have available, generating more content for our coaches to use, and developing on the ground workshops.

In addition to this I will be working on a CPD strategy in conjunction with the rest of the team to ensure we are able to support coaches in the long term. This will shaped by feedback we have received from the 2015 coaches survey as well as grounded in an evidence-based approach.

Have your say
