Enabling excellence whilst delivering opportunities for everyone
Competitors set off into tranquil waters for an 1100m swim. Good conditions meant that the field spread out and within 15 minutes the first competitors were on their bikes to tackle a fast, flat 29km circuit close to the lake. Finally tri-athletes were off on the run section, an off road track, around the lake, competing in the fastest lap and sprint finish challenges as part of it.
First male competitor to finish was Bob Pearce from the Army Triathlon Association in 1:30:58 and the first female finisher was Zoe Hanson from Birmingham Run and Tri. Both were delighted to achieve a personal best in this event. Bob said, ‘I thoroughly enjoyed the event, a great swim and bike for me and the weather stayed fine!’ Zoe commented on Events Logic UK’s great venue saying ‘this beautiful lake and scenery made a change from training in Birmingham! I had a good swim and an enjoyable bike leg but the run cross terrain run was more challenging for me today.’
Cheltenham Tri-club used this event as one of their key calendar events. Club members compete at a number of events, gaining points for a club championship. They were well represented at the ¾ Triathlon. Kevin Ord was the first club member to finish this exciting event in 1:37:13 which placed him in third position overall.
The excitement continued in the afternoon with a Novice Duathlon. Competitors in this event set out on a 3km run, 13km bike and rounded off with a 3km run. Elgan Jones in 52:39.
Congratulations to all who took part and of course thanks go to Thameswey and Devizes Canoe club and Swindon Firefighters who provided all Events Logic water safety today. Also thanks to all the volunteers and marshals who helped to make the event such a success.
