On Sunday 31st May the world’s fastest triathletes will battle it out in Hyde Park London at the free-to-view Vitality World Triathlon London – the sixth stop in the 2015 ITU World Triathlon Series.

The Vitality World Triathlon London takes place on 30th & 31st May and fans can soak up the atmosphere for free by simply heading down to Hyde Park to watch. On Saturday it’s the turn of world-leading paratriathletes, Youth and Junior triathletes as well as thousands of amateurs, whilst on Sunday spectators can enjoy the excitement in the Official Fan site on Serpentine Road as the world’s best triathletes go head to head in a thrilling ITU World Triathlon Series race.

British triathletes have demonstrated excellent form so far this season, with Alistair Brownlee returning to the podium in Cape Town and Yokohama after missing the start of the season through injury. Jonathan Brownlee impressively won the Series rounds in Auckland and the Gold Coast. The Vitality World Triathlon London will see the brother’s race alongside each other for the first time this season.

In the women’s ITU World Triathlon Series, Gwen Jorgensen (USA) has kept her record-breaking unbeaten streak intact, securing a ninth consecutive ITU World Triathlon Series win in Yokohama. In Cape Town, GB Triathlete Vicky Holland returned from injury in style as she claimed her first ITU World Triathlon Series win.

With The Vitality World Triathlon London passing the baton to Leeds next year, this is a truly unmissable opportunity for spectators to watch the world’s top triathletes take to the course at the London 2012 Olympic venue. Home to GB Olympic medallists Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee as well as training ground for top female triathletes Non Stanford and Vicky Holland, the city is excited to be hosting the international championship event next year.

Olympic champion Alistair Brownlee said, “Whilst looking forward to the World Triathlon Series coming to my home city next year, I am hoping to make the most of racing at the iconic London 2012 venue one more time. With the home crowd there it is always such a great atmosphere in Hyde Park.”

Part of UK Sport’s National Lottery funded #EveryRoadtoRio events series, the Vitality World Triathlon London is one of over 30 world class sporting events staged in the UK to help British athletes prepare and qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Marisol Cassado, president of the ITU, said: “The Vitality World Triathlon London holds special significance in the Series. As one the longest-standing host cities within the World Triathlon Series, the race has made history with top-notch mass participation and elite competition. As the event moves to a new home in Leeds in 2016, we are looking forward to watching another nail-biting championship race at the Olympic venue.”

Neville Koopowitz CEO, speaking from Vitality, "We are looking forward to the Vitality World Triathlon London 2015 returning to Hyde Park this weekend.  We are delighted to be title sponsors of this iconic event, which is part of our on-going strategy to invest in sport to promote healthy lifestyles”
