2014 British Triathlon Inter Regional Championships (IRCs) to kick start the British Triathlon U20's Festival

Published:

The 2014 IRCs will take place at the National Water Sports Centre for the first time in the competitions history, which will see a busy three days of triathlon action for the Nottingham venue.

The British Triathlon U20's Festival featuring the ever-popular IRCs gets underway on Friday, 22 August.

The North West region (pictured above) are the IRC team to beat having won the title in 2013 after a string of impressive performances in last year's championships, which took place at Eton Dorney.

The IRC Tri Star races will be joined by the Youth and Junior events with the festival culminating in the men's ETU Nottingham Triathlon Junior European Cup, which will act as the selection event for the ITU Triathlon Junior World Championships in Edmonton later this month.

John Muddeman, Festival Director and Events Manager for British Triathlon said: "The IRCs are an exciting and much anticipated highlight of the events calendar. It's great to provide an opportunity for so many younger athletes to compete alongside some of Europe's talented juniors at an iconic venue like the National Water Sports Centre and to be able to see some of the shinng stars of the future."

A full report will be available online and a picture gallery capturing all the action on our facebook page.

It will be busy times indeed in the East Midlands, as hot on the heels following Friday's British Triathlon U20's Festival the National Water Sports venue will play host to the Triathlon England - National Club Relay Championships, which run across the Saturday and Sunday.
