Leeds Castle provides stunning backdrop for aspiring National Champions

Published:

With the first Triathlon England – National Championship on the horizon, we can now look ahead to what other opportunities members have to bag a national title in Olympic and Paralympic year.

The beautiful Leeds Castle will provide the backdrop to the Triathlon England – National Sprint Distance Triathlon Championships, welcoming the nation’s best sprinting talent to the South-East on 25 June.

Athletes will take on a 750m one lap swim, before embarking on a fast 26km bike course. The final 5km cross country run towards the Upper Parkland is set to challenge athletes and decide who has what it takes to make it onto the podium.

Head of Engagement and Events at Leeds Castle, Alysha Sargent, said: “Leeds castle are proud to be hosting the Triathlon England – National Sprint Distance Championship race in 2016. We look forward to welcoming competitors from all over the UK and Europe to take part in the event, which is set to see competitors swimming around the moat, before cycling and running around the iconic 900-year-old castle.

“All aspects of the race take in spectacular views of the castle, making it one of the most picturesque races in the UK. Now in its third year, the event will also host a junior aquathlon, encouraging young athletes from 8 years old to get invovled.

“The event promises not only to be a great race for competitors, but also to be a fantastic day out for the spectators, with the castle and grounds to enjoy after the race.”
