Age-groupers gear up for Stockton Duathlon

Published:

Those wanting the last few qualifying places on the Great Britain Age-Group Team will head north this weekend, for the Stockton Duathlon.

Both sprint and standard distance races act as final opportunities to qualify for both the 2015 ITU Sprint Distance Duathlon World Championships in Adelaide and next year’s ETU Standard Distance Duathlon European Championships, where location is yet to be confirmed.

With a backdrop of the River Tees, the sprint distance 5km run, 20km bike and final 2.5km run will take place on fully closed roads, with the multi-lap route passing through the town centre.

The distances double for Stockton’s standard race and with a fast, flat course, it’s likely to be fought all the way to the line.

The race takes place as part of the Stockton Duathlon festival, also featuring a GO TRI 1000 event, where beginners will kick of proceedings on Sunday over a novice distance.

The first qualifiers for the team for Adelaide were decided in March at both Clumber Park Duathlon and Stirling Duathlon. A list of qualifiers from these two races can be found here.

Initial qualifiers for the ETU Standard Distance Duathlon European Championships were named at Oulton Park Duathlon and Clumber Park Duathlon. See them here
