Voting open for Sunday Times & Sky Sportswoman of the Year Awards

Published:

The nomination process for the Sunday Times & Sky Sports Sportswomen of the Year Awards is currently open, with members of the public invited to vote for their favourite sportswomen, community heroes and lifelong contributors.

With support from the sport, Jodie Stimpson has an excellent chance of being shortlisted for the Sportswoman of the Year award having memorably won the first gold medal of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games this summer.

With the pressure of winning England’s first gold medal, Stimpson delivered in fine style with an emphatic victory. She then helped Team England add a second triathlon gold medal as part of the Mixed Team Relay.

Lauren Steadman is eligible for both the Young Sportswoman of the Year and Disability Sportswoman of the Year having won the ITU world title and ETU European title in the same year as gaining a first class university degree. However, she and other worthy British triathletes only have the chance of being shortlisted with support from voters.

Sarah Springman was awarded a lifetime achievement award last year at the awards ceremony in London. Nominations for the 2014 winner can come from the public, as can they can for the Helen Rollason Award for Inspiration.

2014 has been a fantastic year for triathlon, and still the season continues with the Ironman World Championships yet to take place.

Nominations close on Tuesday 14 October. If you think you know someone who is worthy of an award, please visit the voting page here and help celebrate the success of athletes, volunteers and officials in our sport HERE.
