About Torfaen triathlon club
Torfaen Triathlon club formed in 2016, 3 separate clubs– Pontypool and District runners, Pontypool Road Cycle club and Torfaen Dolphins, had the idea to work together with the Torfaen Leisure Trust to form a triathlon club in the area.
We have members from all over the area, Cwmbran, Blaenavon, Usk and Pontypool, we named the club Torfaen Triathlon Club as we didn’t want people to think they had to be just from Pontypool to sign up. We have a real Community feel to the club
Membership:
We have roughly around 30 members. From beginners to those wanting to do longer distance races.
It’s a great to see families signing up together, and we have a high rate of female members which is encouraging.
Club Sessions:
As a new club we are really lucky that we have allocated pool time for our new members.
Our training sites are:
Fairwater leisure centre, Cwmbran, Pontypool Active Living Centre and Cwmbran Stadium
Our training sessions include:
2 Coached swim sessions a week
1 un-coached swim session
1 coached run session a week
Organised bike rides,
And during winter months we have spin classes for our members.
We also email the coaching plan to members if they can’t make a particular club session.
Our Ethos:
We want everyone! We want to be as inclusive as we can be. We want to give people the best possible chance to improve.
