Triathlon England Championships 2024: Your Guide

Published:

The English Championships offer Triathlon England members the opportunity to become national champion and in 2024 there are six chances to claim the title across a range of disciplines.

Swim, bike, run kicks off the championship calendar with the English Sprint Distance Triathlon Championships on 2 June. Taking place at Ullswater Epicman Triathlon at Park Foot Holiday Park in Cumbria, the race gets underway with a 750m swim. Heading out of T1 participants will take part in a 24km bike ride before completing scenic laps of Ullswater for their 5km run leg.

The English Standard Distance Duathlon Championships are next up on the calendar on 14 July. Taking place in Marlow by the River Thames, participants start with a 5km run before a 40km bike ride. They then cross the finish line with a 10km run that sees them take in the views of Marlow and the surrounding area. Each lap participants complete on the run and bike sees them take on different terrain throughout, with a mix of tarmac, grass, and trail.

Holme Pierrepoint Country Park and the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham is the next stop on the English Championships calendar, as it plays host to the English Aquathlon Championships on 27 July. A 750m open water swim in Regatta Lake gets things underway before a flat and fast 5km run around the surrounding area sees participants head over the finish line.

The English Standard Distance Triathlon Championships are on 11 August at Bedford Triathlon. The event starts with a 1.5km river swim in the River Great Ouse before participants head out into the surrounding countryside for the 40km bike leg. The 10km run brings an end to proceedings with participants taking on three laps around the river and Russell Park.

It’s back to Nottingham for the penultimate race of the English Championship season with the HUUB National Triathlon Relays hosting the English Club Relay Championships on 24 August. Teams of four will all complete a triathlon in and around the National Water Sports Centre. The race takes place over a 500m swim, a 15km bike leg and ends with a 5km run around the lake.

The English Championship season comes to an end in Whitwell, Rutland Water with the English Middle Distance Championships on 8 September. Participants start off with a 1.9km swim in the bay of Whitwell Creek before heading into T1. The 89km bike ride that comes next sees the race head out into the Rutland countryside, local villages, and woodland areas. After a quick stop in transition a 21km run takes participants around Rutland Water with a turn point at Normanton Church before heading for the finish line.
