Young Triathletes Crowned English Champions!
Two English schools win the 2012 Triathlon England - National Schools Championship in Nuneaton.
After a thrilling Saturday morning in Nuneaton, Coopers’ Company & Coborn School and Orleans Park School took home the title of English Champions in the 2012 Triathlon England - National Schools Championship.
The event, which took place at the Pingles Leisure Centre in Nuneaton, was well attended with over 20 schools taking part in the competitive races across three age-groups in difficult weather conditions.
Coopers’ Company & Coborn School, based in Essex, completed the relay race in 36mins and 04 seconds, winning the title of English Champions in the Years 7-8 age-group. Orleans Park School based in Twickenham completed the relay race in 36mins and 32seconds to take home the title of English Champions in the Years 9-10 age-group.
The annual National Championship event was open to teams of four, consisting of two boys and two girls with free entry for each team. The teams competed across three age-groups based on school years: Years 7-8, Years 9-10, and Year 11 and the activities consisted of the following distances:

Jem Lawson, Chair of Triathlon England, said: “Our congratulations go to both the schools who were worthy winners of the Championships titles. The event was a fantastic spectacle and we saw some outstanding talent on show, possibly the next generation of medallists in the sport. Being crowned English Champion in such a prestigious year for English sport is quite an accomplishment for all the winners and something that each school who entered should be very proud.
"Our thanks go to all those who took part, the organisers, the venue and the support of all schools and parents that really made this event the success it was. We hope this will be an inspiration for more to take part in triathlon."
