FINAL ROUND OF NW Senior Series
The final round of the series took place at what appears to be have been a sunny and fine Helvellyn course.
The men’s race was won by Jon Fletcher (Arragons), with Pollyanne Veazey taking the women’s race.
In the men’s series Thomas Kneller (Tri Team Wigan) was the only one of the leading contenders racing and cemented a fine series win, to go with several other junior trophies this year. He also won the junior series. In a year for the juniors Nick Haworth (MTC) came second overall with Mark Livingstone (ABC) third. Mark also takes the vets prize with Stuart Carter (Bolton) taking super vets.
In the women’s series Sarah Rhodes (MTC) cemented the overall victory with Dominique Searle (chester) in 2nd. This helped MTC Women hold off a late charge from Arragons in the club league, with Chester in 3rd.
Ashurst Bike Club returned to winning ways, taking the men’s club league for the 3rd time, the most any club has won the men’s league.
All prizes will be given out at the annual awards evening, provisionally Saturday 24th November.
Any queries or issues please contact Tony Jolly at Northwest series@gmail.com
Round 4 of NW Senior Series – Salford Quays Aquathlon
Latest results are HERE
After relatively bad weather recently, clouds more of less broke for racing on the Thursday evening. After Chester dominated at Boundary Breeze, it was Manchester Tri who got the upper hand. Dominique Searle (Chester) managed to split up the high placed MTC finishers. Nic Rowley taking 1st place, ahead of Vicki Wade, with Dominique in third. MTC girls have taken a reasonable lead over Chester in the Women’s series, but with Helvellyn to come, it’s come down to a two horse race by the only winners of the competition to date.
Sarah Rhodes has taken control at the top of the standings, from Dominique Searle. With 1 race left, Dominique needs to finish top 33 and hope Sarah is outside to the top 20, to overtake her at the top of the standings. Athletes need to compete in a minimum of 3 races to qualify for prizes at the end of the series, but it’s the best 4 scores that count.
In the Men’s race, Thomas Kneller (Tri Team Wigan) clocked up his first win, and looks to have an unassailable lead in the Senior Series, and has won the junior category series.
Nick Haworth (MTC) lies in 2nd, with Mark Livingston (Ashurst) in a strong 3rd place.
Llyr Hughes (MTC) came in second, and Mark Clair 3rd. In the men’s League a good day for MTC, closing the gap slightly on Ashurst BC, who still leave with just Helvellyn to go.

NW senior series Round 3 – Boundary Breeze Sprint
In a summer of rain, was nice to get a day with good weather for round 3 of the NW championships.
Sprint Championships
A great day for Chester Tri, Saw Dominique Searle win the women’s race from team mate Gina Riley, With Sarah Rhodes (MTC) in third. Traci Shipley (Chester) and Sue Ellis (Chester) took the vet and super vet prizes. In the men’s race Hamish Shaw took the win for Knutsford Tri, from Peter Brook in second and Andrew Bray took third and vets prize to add to his vets prize at the Chester race). Thomas Kneller took his second win in the Juniors series. Paul Tynan (COLT) took the super vet prize.
Club League
In the men’s league it’s still a very close battle with Chester Tri having a 12 minute lead over Manchester Tri with Ashurst BC only a further 3 minutes back. With two races to go this is virtually neck and neck. In the women’c Club league. Chester Tri clawed back a few minutes on MTC’s lead. MTC still lead by 2 hours 29, but that is catchable. Especially with Helvellyn still to come. Manx Tri are in third place.
Series
In the men’s series it’s the teenagers heading the way, with Thomas Kneller (Tri Team Wigan) holding a 38 point lead over Nick Haworth (MTC) with Matt Shillabeer and Mark Livingston (both Ashurst BC) within touching distance.
In the Women’s series Sarah Rhodes has a commanding lead over Dominique Searle and Sophie Rees (both Chester), but both Chester athletes have the opportunity to shake up teh standings should they start the final two races in the series. With best 4 from 5 races to count.
Remaining races in the series are
Salford Quays Aquathlon 2nd August

Helvellyn 2nd September

NorthWest Senior Series update – Round 2 - PROVISIONAL
The 2nd round of the Northwest series took place at Chester Deva Triathlon. As usual reports were of a well organised race and very fast swim times!
