British Triathlon launch Mentor Development Programme

Published:

The British Triathlon coaching team is pleased to announce the launch of a Mentor Development Programme as part of their mission to develop a world-leading triathlon coaching system in Great Britain.

The principal aim is to support new and existing triathlon coaches through a formal mentoring programme, focussing on creating a diverse group of mentors that can deliver a lasting impact across the sport.

The programme is a two-day course designed and delivered in partnership with Harty Roberts Consultants, leaders in the development of mentoring and coaching. The course provides candidates with the opportunity to meet existing coach mentors and develop their mentoring skills and abilities. The workshops will be free to candidates, however successful applicants must meet the criteria outlined below:

  • Level 2 or 3 triathlon coach;
  • Two years of regular triathlon coaching experience;
  • Committed to developing fellow triathlon coaches;
  • Aged 18 or above.
Paul Moss, Coaching Development Manager for British Triathlon was delighted with the new programme commenting:  “The new Mentor Development Programme has been developed following a process of consultation within our existing coaching and Home Nation club network. With the continued growth of triathlon, it is important to ensure that triathlon coaches have the support network in place to deliver high quality coaching to the growing number of participants within the sport.”

The Mentor Development Programme is delivered through the Home Nations, with the first two courses being held in England. To find out more and to apply, please visit www.triathlonengland.org/get-involved/coaching
