2015 Triathlon England and British Triathlon Major Events bidding gets underway

Published:

Triathlon England and British Triathlon are pleased to invite bids from event organisers in England, Scotland and Wales to host Championship and GB Age-Group Team Qualifiers events in 2015.

The annual bidding process gives event organisers of permitted or sanctioned triathlons, duathlons and aquathlons across the Home Nation Associations the opportunity to host events that make up the British Triathlon Age-Group Major Events programme, and organisers of events in England the opportunity to host Triathlon England - National Championships. Events that are successful in their bids represent the very best Great Britain has to offer, so far in 2014 Championship and GB Age-Group Team qualification events have on average a 95% satisfaction rating from participants.

The following British Championships are included in the bidding process:

•             British Age-Group Sprint Distance Triathlon Championships
•             British Age-Group Middle Distance Triathlon Championships

The following Triathlon England – National Championships are also included in the bidding process:

•             Triathlon England – National Duathlon Championships
•             Triathlon England – National Sprint Distance Triathlon Championships
•             Triathlon England – National Standard Distance Triathlon Championships
•             Triathlon England – National Middle Distance Triathlon Championships
•             Triathlon England – National Aquathlon Championships
•             Triathlon England – National Cross Duathlon Championships

In addition to these championships, 26 GB age-group Team Qualifiers are also included in the bidding process. Details of all events that are included in this bidding process and a bidding application form can be downloaded from the event organisers section of the British Triathlon website:  http://events.britishtriathlon.org

Jon Ridgeon, British Triathlon Board Director for Major and National Events commented: “Qualification for the GB Age-Group Team is the focus for many multi-sport athletes each year, many of whom travel the length and breadth of the country to achieve just that, so it is important that organisers of the very best events from across the country put themselves forward to host these prestigious qualification events. There is also the opportunity to host prestigious British and English Championship events, so we hope to receive many high quality bids from right across the country, particularly from organisers who have not bid before.“

Duncan Hough, Triathlon England Board Director for Events, Rules and Technical comments:
“We are excited to again partner with British Triathlon, to invite tenders to host Triathlon England National Championships and Major British Triathlon events, whether they be Qualifiers or Championships. We are looking to work with Event Organisers who can deliver a quality event in England, that they feel  is suitable to host one of Triathlon England’s National Championships. We want the events to excite those with a competitive edge, but yet also be accessible and welcoming for the more novice or inexperienced competitor where this may be their first experience of triathlon, and will leave the right first impressions of how enjoyable the sport can be.”

Other British Championships to be held in 2015 will be organised by British Triathlon, include the British Age-Group Standard Distance Triathlon Championships and British Age-Group Duathlon Championships.

Further bid documentation including bidding guidelines and submission templates can be downloaded from the event organisers section of the British Triathlon website: http://events.britishtriathlon.org
