Brighton Phoenix fundraising in memory of late beloved club member

Published:

Club members of Brighton Phoenix are raising vital funds for two defibrillators for their training venues after Andrew Brooks suddenly died in June at the age of 60.

Club members took part in the annual Black Cap Handicap race which has now been renamed to the Andrew Brooks Black Cap Handicap after he won the race in 2020.

Andrew took up triathlon on the back of taking part in Parkrun and has been part of the Brighton Phoenix family since 2018.

Two years after joining, he became the club secretary and was a key part of participating in the club’s Zoom sessions during the lockdowns due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The club has now raised over its target of £1,800 and their fund now sits at over £3,000 and they have pledged to buy as many defibrillators as they can for as many locations in Brighton and Hove as possible.
