This weekend saw the first Triathlon England National Championships take place as part of a weekend of duathlon action.

National championship events provide Triathlon England members the opportunity to compete to become national champion in their age group, with the Yorkshire Duathlon providing the first opportunity to claim a 2021 championship medal at the Triathlon England Standard Distance Duathlon Championships.

The event saw 21 National Champions crowned across the event with Ashley Robinson winning in the 70 - 74 age group and Barbara Perry won gold in the 65 - 69 age group. In the youngest age category, 20 - 24 years, Anna Birrell and James Lonsdale secured the vistories.

As well as the national championships taking place over the standard distance, the Yorkshire Duathlon hosted open racing in both sprint and standard distance duathlon.

Taking place at the Croft Motor Racing Circuit, the standard distance run, bike, run saw participants compete on the track and biking along open roads, with the sprint distance participants completing all three stages within the circuit.

Elsewhere in England, Dorney Lake was the setting for the Thames Valley Spring Duathlon on Saturday with participants run, bike, running around the perimeter of the lake for either a supersprint, sprint or standard distance duathlon.

Taking place in the South West on Sunday, the weather was equally as good for the Exeter Sprint Duathlon.

The run route gave competitors the opportunity to see the sights of Escot Estate, the central venue for the event for the first time, as they completed two 5km runs. Sandwiched between the two runs was the 20km, out and back bike leg between the estate and Cranbrook.
