Celebrating Success: Charlotte's Inspiring Relay Initiative for South Central Academy Team

Published:

A student-lead initiative brings junior triathletes together to celebrate the end of exams.

Junior triathlete Charlotte Hall is being praised for her contribution to organizing her team's relays as a way of celebrating the end of GCSE exams. Charlotte and her teammates at South Central Academy showcased their passion for racing at the Beachborough triathlon competition, which was held on Sunday 16th June at Stowe School. Coach Jodie brought this story to light to congratulate the kids on their achievements after a hard few months of revision for their GCSE examinations.

Drawing on her prior experience of competing at the Beachborough triathlon event, Charlotte organized two relay teams almost entirely on her own. “This was a fun way for everyone to celebrate the end of exams and get back into racing” Charlotte explained. “Most of us had finished exams and were looking for a bit of fun and a way to get back into triathlon before the big events over the next few months,” she added. The relay format was “particularly enjoyable” as it allowed them to work closely with each other and celebrate as a team.

Despite a few hiccups, like a bike breaking and a teammate falling ill, the event was a big success. One of the highlights was involving a newcomer to the sport, an avid runner who had transitioned to triathlon during her recovery from an injury. Overall, the team were able to deliver amazing results with Charlotte commenting: "It was amazing to see our relay teams take first and second place overall, this achievement added a special memory to the day.”

Charlotte wanted to add a special thank you to coach Jodie for her involvement in the event, saying: "I want to say a big thank you for her support. The encouragement from her, along with the support from our parents, made the day even more special." This experience was more than just a race; it was a celebration of teamwork, and the fun of competing together again.

Charlotte and her teammates continue to train hard throughout the summer after taking a break for revision, focusing on preparing for upcoming events. They are gearing up for the Junior Super Series competitions scheduled at the end of August and mid-September, ensuring they're in top form for these important races.
