Terry Bonnett is competing in one of the five events this Saturday at the Columbia Threadneedle World Triathlon Leeds; the Triathlon England - National Aquathlon Championships.
We spoke to reigning Triathlon England - National Aquathlon Champions Terry Bonnett from Wendover, Bucks, to find on why he's hoping to retain his title this weekend.
"I come from a swimming club background where I competed at a national level and have always had a keen interest in running. I have taken part in several marathons and still compete at pool swimming in masters competitions, but my main focus these days is on triathlons and aquathlons, which offer up a whole new variety of challenges and experiences. I am fortunate enough to belong to Tri-Force, an amazingly friendly and fun triathlon club based in St Albans.
"Having won in my age-group at the two previous Triathlon England - National Aquathlon Championships and with Leeds hosting the ITU World Triathlon Series along side, as soon as this event was announced I was massively keen to come to Leeds and have another go at the championships! I am looking forward to a fun weekend of events to both take part in and watch.
"I am definitely planning on heading down to Leeds city centre on Sunday to watch the elites battle it out and soak up the whole atmosphere of the big triathlon weekend. It'll be great to watch and be inspired by the Team GB athletes in their preparations for Rio. With the world's best competing, I'm sure it'll be an amazing spectacle."
