Southport Triathlon – North West

This event is host to the 2021 Europe Triathlon Standard Distance Triathlon European Championship Qualifiers.

Southport Sprint and Standard Distance Triathlon attracts triathletes of all abilities, from complete novices to elite competitors. Taking place at Waterside Lodge, a purpose-built activity centre in Southport, this event has become increasingly popular over the years, often selling out.

Participants can choose between the sprint (750m swim, 20km cycle, 5km run) or standard distance (1.5km swim, 40km cycle, 10km run), with the cycling leg being raced on closed roads and the run on the tarmac paths surrounding Marine Lake.

GO TRI Manchester Airport Duathlon – North West

McA Fitness & Events returns with more GO TRI action in Manchester, taking participants along an initial 2.5km run, followed by an 18km cycle and final 2.5km run. One of the most popular GO TRI events in the region, this event will take place across 4 waves over Saturday and Sunday.

Arundel Lido Triathlon – South East

Set up as one of the more chilled out triathlon events in the UK, this event takes place in a welcoming heated, outdoor pool on the banks of the River Arun. The town of Arundel in West Sussex invites participants to take on the standard distance (800m swim, 37km cycle, 9km run), sprint distance (400m swim, 19km cycle, 5km run) or the relay. The relay will see one swimmer, one cycling one runner racing across an 800m swim, 37km cycle and final 8km run.

For athletes looking to give the running a miss, this year sees the introduction of sprint and standard distance aquabike which takes place across a 400m swim and 19km bike for the former and double that distance for the latter.

Crystal Palace Duathlon - London

Typically Crystal Place Triathlon, ongoing repairs to the venue’s swimming pool means this year’s event has been changed to a duathlon. This event made a comeback in 2005, taking place at Crystal Place Park, participants will cycle around the old motor racing circuit before taking on a park-based run. Distances are available for athletes of all levels, beginning with TriStar Start, all the way through to junior and adult (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run) races.

Westonbirt Duathlon – South West

A relatively new event, the inaugural Westonbirt Duathlon was a resounding success and thus it returns in 2021. The National Arboretum welcomes athletes to take on a 5km run, 22km cycle and final 5km run to the finish through spectacular natural surroundings and open roads.

British Triathlon has developed specific Covid-19 requirements focused on the practical implementation of the key government measures of social distancing and increased hygiene. The above permitted events have demonstrated their application of these additional requirements.
