Falmouth gears up for next instalment of Championships

Published:

In the South-West corner of the UK, preparations are being put in place for the next awaited date in the Triathlon England calendar, the 2015 National Aquathlon Championships.

This Sunday (12 July) Falmouth Aquathlon will mark the fifth opportunity for athletes to bag an English title, with just the Triathlon Relays and Duathlon Championships left to get underway later in the year.

Gyllyngvase Beach will see competitors start their individual campaigns for honours with a 750m sea swim before tackling a 5km run along the sea front; looping around Pendennis Point and finishing on the beach.

The picturesque location has been home to the Falmouth Triathlon for the last four years and is a tried and tested course.

Last year’s event in St Neots witnessed Nathan Tweedie clock the quickest time of the day, finishing in 26:19. With the Pactrac athlete absent this time round, we’ll have to wait and see who has it in them to take on the race.  Returning champions include Terry Bonnett (M35-39) who will be aiming to repeat his 2014 performance.

Results of the Championships will be hosted on the Triathlon England website; allowing you to see how friends and family have gotten on. These will be updated during and after the event, subject to internet access. To view the results page, please visit here.
