GO TRI event focus: Easton Leisure Centre

Published:

We spoke to Jeff Martin from Easton Leisure Centre in Bristol, to find out what goes on at one of their GO TRI events.

We have organised 5 GO TRI aquathlon events so far, with the first being held in July 2014 and the most recent taking place in October 2015. We have had over 120 participants take across the 5 events, which is fantastic!

Next year we're aiming to have a series of 4 events spread from April to October, usually held on Sunday mornings at 9am. Dates for these will be released in the New Year so keep your eyes peeled on gotri.org. The events cost £5 to enter for both Members and non-members and you can book online at the web link above.

Our target audience is generally those new to the multisport world, as the events act as a stepping stone towards bigger events. Our leisure centre has a great community and friendly feel so is very suitable for first time participants who need the extra support, but also for experienced participants who want a brick training session and/or to practice their transition under event conditions. Feedback has been that it is a great low key local event.

We are looking to continue building the momentum and establish more weekly training sessions again. Currently support and advice is given to those already participated and continue their new found passion, or offered ad hoc in the gym to those interested and especially when an event is nearing. A regular weekly ‘club training’ session is the aim, where we can have a session in the gym and then offer the opportunity to swim afterwards.
