Close racing in Kent sees Paul Ryman and Amy Pritchard the pace setters as the fourth Triathlon England - National Championship of 2016 sees medals awarded at the Leeds Castle Triathlon.
With a swim that takes place in the moat of a castle that describes itself as “the loveliest in the world”, it was no surprise to hear that the Leeds Castle Sprint Triathlon proved to be a great host to the latest Triathlon England - National Championship event of the year. With a challenging off-road run course that took in the grounds of the castle too, athletes really did get a breathtaking experience in all respects.
The Sprint distance always provides fast and close racing and once again that was true here, with Paul Ryman (Frome – Ichiban) the fastest male athlete of the day, just ten seconds quicker than Sebastian Gary (TriSutto). Both athletes went home with Gold medals in their 35-39 and 15-19 categories respectively, with third-placed Carl Shaw (Racetime Events RT) taking the Silver in the same 35-39 division and Paul Ryman.
For the youngster Sebastian Garry, 2016 has been a fine year so far having also won ETU European Championship Gold medals at both Duathlon and Triathlon, from the championship events in Kalkar (Germany) and Lisbon (Portugal).
Amy Pritchard (Tri London) and Vikki Voysey (Greenwhich Tritons) didn’t have too far to travel from their London bases and they proved to be worthwhile travels too, recording the two fastest times of the day to earn top podium spots in the 35-39 and 25-29 categories. Jill Cliff (Deal Tri) was the third fastest overall on the way to taking the Gold medal in the 45-49 division.
