Join us for a triathlon focused workshop ahead of our AGM

A variety of workshops will be running on throughout the morning of the Saturday 11 November ahead of the 2017 Triathlon England AGM and awards at Loughborough University.

On Saturday 11 November we welcome triathletes, coaches, volunteers and enthusiasts to join us in attending one of a number of low-cost and free triathlon focused workshops, which in turn offers Home Nation members the opportunity to experience a full day of activity in conjunction with the Triathlon England AGM and Awards.

The five workshops on offer run from 10am to 1pm and cater for a number of different area from social media to training for club welfare officers. Find out more about the sessions on offer and how to register your attendance below.

Workshop 1

Time to Listen, training for club welfare officers Free

This workshop describes how a club welfare officer works with others to create a child centered environment and reflect on case study examples to improve their practice, hosted by Linda Haywood.

The workshop will:

  • Describe how a club welfare officer works with others to create a child centred environment
  • Explain how the club welfare officer role fits into the wider safeguarding environment
  • Apply learning to case studies including sharing good safeguarding practice

Workshop 2

Clean Sport & Anti-Doping  - Free

This course will enable people to understand the anti-doping rules associated with triathlon so they know how to 'be clean and stay clean'.

At the end of this workshop you should be able to:

  • Fully commit to your anti-doping responsibilities under the 2015 Code
  • Take action now to ensure you compete clean
  • Use anti-doping tools to help you stay clean
  • Be vigilant in spotting day-to-day risks
  • Know where to go for further support and information

Attendees will be able to hear from a British Athletes experience of doping control.

Workshop 3

The highs and lows of working with volunteers in triathlon - £10

This workshop explores the benefits and challenges of working with volunteers offering tips and strategies for maximising the positive benefits and managing the challenges, hosted by Penny Wilkin.

Workshop 4

Social Media Training - £10

Want to find out how to grow your social presence, engage with new audiences and communicate existing followers?

Hosted by Charlotte Males, learn how to build up social media is a valuable tool for your clubs and events using simple and effective techniques. The workshop will cover some of the basics from creating an engaging post and starting conversation, through to giving you the tools to create an effective social media plan.

Workshop 5

BAME Inclusivity Consultation - Free

An opportunity for members from across England to attend a wider consultation and to share their learnings and develop actions for 2018, hosted by Jon Train.

During this session we would like to hear more about your triathlon experience - things that have helped your involvement or been a barrier. We’d also love to hear your ideas on how we can help the sport to become more diverse.

We encourage those attending workshops to stay on for the Triathlon England AGM (register here) and British Triathlon AGM (register here) with a light lunch provided for those who register their attendance for the AGM.
