The original Aquathlon Championship race was due to be contested on 18th May 2014, but was cancelled due to safety concerns raised by a failed water test which was a result from the build up of algae due to the mild weather conditions.
Nicetri Events as agreed, will honour all previous entrance fees. Please see www.nice-tri.co.uk to find out how to reactivate your entry. All new competitors to this event should enter via the system as normal, the new date is 13 September 2014.
Keith Ritchie, Nicetri Events said: “it was unprecedented to have Blue/ Green algae in the lake at this time of year, Anglian Water checks showed no signs of the outbreak prior to the event. We again apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope that you can make the rescheduled event."
Duncan Hough, Triathlon England Director for Events, Rules and Technical commented: "We are pleased to be able to announce the re-scheduling of the race and have been very pleased how proactive Nicetri Events have been in informing everyone in advance and ensuring that the athletes safety and wellbeing is paramount. They have carefully looked at alternatives to ensure the newly rescheduled date goes ahead and we can now look forward to a great days racing at a beautiful venue to decide the Triathlon England - National Aquathlon Champion."
