We always love hearing about your GO TRI experiences and how you were inspired to tri something new with GO TRI.
Nicki Taylor shares her story with us around how she discovered GO TRI events and how her triathlon experiences brought people closer together as they discussed the excitement of the event.
‘I saw a local GO TRI event on Facebook and I have always fancied a triathlon event. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to give TRI a go.
‘The original idea was mentioned on a local Facebook running group page called Runcamp which offers guides, support and training sessions for local people in Southampton. It all started there with quite a few of us signing up.
‘We were all first-time triathletes baring one person. We decided to use Facebook as an outlet and where we discussed kit, the transition and the event of the following days and the days leading up.
‘The anticipation leading up to the event was super exciting, some of us were Facebook friends but had never actually met in real life so this event helped us gain friends in complete strangers. GO TRI brought us all closer.
‘The event made me realise anything is possible. The support we received was incredible and we all had so much fun at the event. The event also helped me make new friends and have an incredible time doing so.
‘Because of the amount of times we posted leading up to and after the event we managed to inspire others to take part, which is a brilliant feeling and I am incredibly proud that I inspired others to have a go.
‘For 2018 I would like to try and improve my swimming as this is my weakest discipline. I would also like to try and loose some weight doing the events. Mostly, I would like to continue competing with my friends and keep inspiring others.
If I had one piece of advice for people thinking about giving GO TRI a go it would be: go for it.”
