Standard Distance Champions to be crowned in St Neots

Published:

2016 is here, and with it comes the chance to become a Triathlon England National Champion. With most championships now open for entry, athletes can book their spots on the start line to compete for national titles in Olympic and Paralympic year.

St Neots Triathlon is set to stage the Triathlon England - National Standard Distance Triathlon Championships on Sunday 8 May, with over 400 athletes having signed up to make their bid for a national title. As an added incentive, the race will also incorporate a Great Britain Age-Group Team qualifier for the ITU Standard Distance Triathlon World Championships in Cozumel later this year.

A season opener for many, the championships will welcome athletes from all corners of the country to Cambridgeshire as they prepare to battle for the podium.

Nicetri Events Team, who are the event organisers, said: “We are delighted to have been selected to host a Triathlon England – National Championships again at St. Neots this year and to host an event of this stature is amazing for the local area.  We have a great team of marshals and volunteers that work at all of our events, without whom none of this would be possible and we filmily believe that it is them who entice people back year after year to our races.”

“Great for spectators, Regatta Meadow is also the perfect venue for testing yourself on a fast, undulating course where the tempo is high and the competition is fierce but friendly. Whether you are an experienced athlete looking for a fast time or a novice competitor looking for a safe and welcoming environment for your first open water triathlon, then St. Neots Triathlon is ideal.

“With some great sponsor prizes up for grabs for the top three finishers, it should prove an added incentive to athletes and welcome some great competition”.
