The Triathlon Trust to welcome local children to New Year camp

Published:

The Triathlon Trust is encouraging families from Handsworth to get their kids involved with their New Year camp to have fun, get active and learn about nutrition.

The Triathlon Trust are working alongside GO TRI, Sport Birmingham, and Central England Coop to provide a New Year activity camp and food for families looking to keep their children active in the winter break.

The camp, which takes place from 30 December – 3 January at Handsworth Leisure Centre, will see children taking part in fun swim, bike and run sessions.

Children, aged 7-13, will be invited to come for their breakfast and enjoy lunches while experiencing the different elements of triathlon.

Chief Executive Mike Jubb said: “We’re so excited to be welcoming children from across Handsworth to the New Year camp. It’s been fantastic working alongside GO TRI, Sport Birmingham, and the Coop in the preparation for the event.

“We’ve had a good number of children sign up already and it’s looking like we’ll be teaching more than 30 children about triathlon, the benefits of staying active and nutrition skills.

“This is the first time we have hosted a camp of this sort and we’re looking forward to being able to offer more opportunities like this in the future.”
