Triathlon England - National Championships announced for 2015

Published:

Triathlon England is pleased to announce that the Triathlon England - National Championships for 2015 have now been confirmed following another outstanding year of competition for members with positive feedback from event organisers and athletes alike.

Today’s announcement follows the confirmation of British Triathlon’s Age-Group Major Events Calendar providing the opportunity for English triathletes to begin their planning for the 2015 season and beyond.

As the National Championships go from strength to strength, the appeal to event organisers is clear with a record number of bids put forward by event organisers across the country. The 2015 National Championships will again consist of seven high quality events over multiple formats and distances with a mixture of new venues and event organisers having the opportunity to host the prestigious races alongside some familiar favourites.

One of the new venues to the calendar will be the South East region’s Cross Duathlon at Hole Park kick starting the 2015 National Championships and providing the first opportunity for Triathlon England members to win national honours next season.

Another new venue and event organiser making a first Championship appearance is the Triathlon England – National Aquathlon Championships delivered by Tempus Leisure in Falmouth.

Geoff Samuels, Senior Community Leisure Officer for Tempus Leisure said: “We are delighted to be awarded the opportunity to deliver one of the 2015 Triathlon England – National Championships. This is the first time such a high profile and significant race has taken place in the South West region.

“The venue for the 2015 Triathlon England - National Aquathlon Championships will be Falmouth beach and the Championships will be integrated into the Falmouth Triathlon which will be part of the Cornwall Triathlon Series.  This will be a landmark event for Cornwall and we anticipate many local athletes to take part especially where a national title is at stake.”

Duncan Hough, Triathlon England’s Director Events, Rules and Technical, added: “As the sport of triathlon evolves after the success of Team England at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games this summer, we are especially pleased with how well our 2014 Triathlon England - National Championships went with some excellent events and equally spectacular turn out from our members.

“With the announcement of the 2015 schedule we are sure the Championships will continue going from strength to strength, inspiring even more people, novice and experienced athletes alike, to have a go and get involved.”

Each successful event has demonstrated the highest quality event management and provided competitors with the opportunity to achieve their personal triathlon challenges in a safe and enjoyable environment.
