Triathlon England 2019 Championships Preview

As a member of Triathlon England you are eligible to become a National Champion at any of our six National Championships!

With Sprint, Standard, Middle, Relay, Duathlon and Aquathlon Championships once again lined up for 2019, will this be your year?

The first Triathlon England National Championship of 2019 is the Standard Distance Duathlon. This Championship will be held at Active Training World’s Ashridge Duathlon on Saturday 26 January in the stunning Ashridge House Estate; the royal residence of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I and steeped in history. Take in the views of the estate on the traffic free 2.5km run loop through the grounds and enjoy the local scenery on the cycle route taking you on the country roads surrounding Ashridge House. An early season duathlon to put all that winter training into practice, this Championship will challenge you as you seek to become your age groups first Triathlon England Champion of 2019!

From the Standard Distance Duathlon, it’s onto the Standard Distance Triathlon and off to the seaside! Join us on 19 May as this Championship returns to Epic Events’ Southport Triathlon for a truly EPIC event. Southport Pier is the second longest in the country, but there’s more than second place on offer at this Championship!  The swim, further than the length of the pier, is followed by a closed road bike route along the Southport sea front, before a run around the lake to the finish and potentially your Championship medal!

We’re staying in the North West for the Middle Distance Championship as we head to the Deva Triathlon on the 2 June with Chester Triathlon Club. Truly a city centre triathlon, take a swim in the River Dee before heading out on the bike route that takes you across the border and into Wales. Having done your two laps and returned to England for second transition, the run will take you over the river and back before you head to the finish in Grosvenor Park. Will you be victorious in this Victorian park and become the Middle Distance National Champion for your age group?

Into the second half of the Championship season and we’re heading to Active Training World’s Hertfordshire Triathlon on 18 August for the Sprint Distance Triathlon. You’ll make a deep water start as you swim a 750m loop of Stanborough Lake before taking to the roads of beautiful Hertfordshire for the cycle and a 2 lap run of the fast route around the park. This event is based at Stanborough Park on the edge of Welwyn Garden City, the second garden city in England, but don’t get too hooked on the views, you’ll need to be first across the line in your age group to take the gold!

The National Relay Championships return to the Triathlon Relays on 24 August. Tri Society, the new name for the organisers, will be bringing the same organised chaos as before! Teams of four will take on a 500m swim, 15km cycle and 5km run course, with each member completing each leg one after another before moving on to the next discipline. A regular fixture in many club calendars, bring anyone and everyone and make a weekend of it! Set at Holme Pierrepont in Nottingham, will your team be bring holme the gold medal?

Bringing the 2019 Triathlon England Championships to a close is the National Aquathlon Championships in Arundel. The 8 September is the date to get in your diary for this Championship as we join Raw Energy Pursuits in the beautiful market town of Arundel. Not available on the market and only found on the podium are the Triathlon England gold medals. Be sure to get yourself on the startlist as the stunning South Downs bring the curtain down on the Triathlon England National Championship season!
