Triathlon England Middle Distance National Championships Race Update

Published:

The 2017 Triathlon England Middle Distance National Championships hosted by Tri Spirit Events takes place on 23 July 2017.

For those competing, organisers Tri Spirit Events will now host the Owler Tri across two venues including a split transition following the presence of blue-green algae in Conningbrook Lake at the Julie Rose Stadium.

The action will now start at Jury’s Gap in Lydd (use TN29 9JW to find the venue), with a point-to-point bike segment and the run and finish taking place at the Julie Rose Stadium in Ashford.

After the swim at Lydd, Transition 1 is alongside the water before competitors head onto quiet, scenic country roads through Brenzett, Appledore, Woodchurch, Hamstreet, Hastingleigh and Wye for the bike section.

The 21km run section is largely flat with two laps and follows a route around the beautiful Conningbrook Lake and surrounding country roads. After returning to the sound of your cheering fans, middle distance competitors then head out for second lap before returning to the stadium cross the finish line in style.

More details about the changes that have been made, including new bike course maps and the logistics surrounding the split transition, can be found in the update on Tri Spirit website.

Due to the late changes, we have decided to extend the time people have to enter until Thursday 20 July at 1800. Unfortunately no entries will be accepted after this point.

The Owler Triathlon represents the fourth of six events in the calendar. The full list of championship events can be seen here.
