UPDATED: British Triathlon's stance on use of disc brakes

Published:

British Triathlon can today confirm that from 10 January 2018, disc brakes are permitted for use in all domestic and international competitions.

This follows the publication of the International Triathlon Union (ITU) Competition Rules, and British Cycling’s earlier announcement on the use of disc brakes in domestic cycling races.

The new ITU Competition Rules can be found on the ITU website here and British Triathlon will review these and adapt for domestic competition over the next couple of weeks. The full 2018 British Triathlon Competition Rules, along with a summary of changes, will be published in early January 2018.
