Workshops announcement finalises 2016 AGM and Awards itinerary

Three limited-space workshops have now been confirmed to take place on Saturday 12 November, offering athletes, coaches and officials a unique opportunity to learn from triathlon experts.

The workshops, expected to generate high interest, cover a range of topics and are designed to suit all areas of the triathlon community.

From Club Athlete to the World Class Podium – How You Can Support Talent Development in Triathlon

This jam-packed session is aimed at those with a vested interest in talented athlete development; focussed on making good decisions, facing challenges and learning from experience.

Facilitated by Paratriathlon Performance Coach, Steve Casson, alongside three elite triathletes, the workshop offers an opportunity to engage with those who have progressed to the world-class stage from three very different starting points.

Welcome to Open Water

This is a unique opportunity to learn more about exactly how British Triathlon and the Royal Life Saving Society UK are working together to get more and more people diving in to the amazing open water venues up and down the country.

Delivered by Jenny Vincent (National Open Water Development Manager) accompanied by Ian Lole (Event Management Consultant and Open Water Specialist), the session will dive straight in to providing approaches to events and sessions for a variety of individuals, regardless of their level of understanding or experience of open water swimming.

Whilst there will be time to absorb key information from the experts, there will be an interactive element, aiming to share experiences followed by a session aimed at improving safety and swimmer experience to support growth in participation.

The workshop is designed to suit officials, clubs, event organisers and open water venue operators.

The Ins and Outs of Bone Stress

A face to face session with the brains that help support our Rio Olympians to success, this workshop is truly one not to miss. The session will highlight the increasingly common issue of bone stress injuries (responses and fractures) within endurance populations.

Attendees should leave this session with a full understanding of bone stress injury, rehabilitation and the prevention process. The discussion will then move to the programming of preventative and end-stage rehab exercises to strengthen and protect the athlete from the injury occurring again.

Ideal for athletes and coaches alike, this session will be led by British Triathlon Strength and Conditioning Coach, Ian Pyper (recent recipient of the 2016 Elite Sport Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year) alongside Oli Williamson (Physiotherapist based at the Leeds Performance Centre).

Please note, workshops will run concurrently, so we ask you to choose carefully which one session you wish to attend.

Don't forget, tickets are still available for the British Triathlon Awards Dinner, celebrating the stand-out moments and individuals of 2016. For more information and to book your spot, please visit here.
