Paratriathlon has now been granted full Paralympic programme status for the RIo 2016 Paralympic Games. This is a huge boost for paratriathlon, as athletes from across the world can now realistically aim to achieve any level in this sport, from complete novice to Paralympic champion. 

 

The development strand is all about developing the best foundations in areas such as clubs, coaching and events, and with this we aim to increase the number of athletes participating in our sport at grass roots level.

 

This course is targeted towards increasing the practical knowledge of paratriathlon and the coaching implications it creates. It is a non jargon based course, which highlights coaching related areas that will help up skill coaches at all levels. 

 

Prequalifications: 

 

It is recommended that all coaches attending this course are British Triathlon Level 1 and above. 

 

Course content: 

•    Introduction

•    Practical implications of coaching paratriathletes 

•    Water Handling practical 

•    Practical’s enabling coaches to gain a bigger insight into the practical areas they could face.
