Triathlon England announces Clarke as new Chair

Published:

Debbie Clarke has been announced as the new Chair of the Triathlon England board and will continue in the role she took on in an interim March.

She has been involved in the triathlon since 2009 and took on the role of interim Chair after Bill James was announced as Chair of British Triathlon.

Clarke has progressed through every level of the sport before becoming an Age-Group Team athlete, representing Great Britain at a number of international events.

She previously held the role of Chair of the London region committee for Triathlon England and has been a member the committee since 2015.

Outside of triathlon, Clarke is passionate about charity work and has supported a charity for homeless women and volunteers for Crisis during the Christmas period.

Clarke has been a part of the Triathlon England board since 2018 and said: “I took on the role of interim Chair of Triathlon England in March, so it has been very busy year, but I am really pleased with the progress we have made. I am excited to remain in post on a more permanent basis to continue working with a great team and I look forward to seeing what we can achieve in the future as we continue to recover from the Covid-19 crisis.”

Andy Salmon, British Triathlon Chief Executive, said: “It has been great working alongside Debbie [Clarke] since March.  Debbie has a wealth of experience from her business and leadership background and is passionate about driving the sport forwards. I look forward to working alongside her as we continue to rebuild and grow the sport ahead of 2021.”
